What Is A Hip Arthroscopy?

In order to see what the issue with your hip is, a hip arthroscopy may be used. This process allows surgeons to look at the hip joint without creating a large incision.  Due to the smaller size of the incision, there is less pain felt and less recovery time necessary from the surgery. During the hip arthroscopy, a small camera is inserted into the hip joint. The camera shows the images on a monitor which can be used for proper diagnosis and treatment.

Recovery Time

About 1-2 hours after the procedure, you will be able to be discharged to go home.  You can expect to use crutches or a walker for assistance for a brief period of time while recovering.  It is recommended that you have someone stay with you for the night after the procedure. A period of rehabilitation will also be necessary to make a full recovery from this minor surgery.
